After Christmas was over, I had no idea what to put on my double doors. I thought about getting another wreath, but I didn’t want a Christmassy-looking wreath, and I also didn’t want something super plain. So I took a trip to my favorite store for wreaths and front door decor – Kirkland’s. I browsed the wreaths, but nothing was speaking to me. Then I saw some water hyacinth hanging baskets and knew they were perfect for my double front doors! Kirkland’s also had a selection of greenery to choose from to fill the baskets. I chose some white flowers and some greenery, but knew I could find filler greenery at Hobby Lobby in a wider selection.
I took a trip to Hobby Lobby the next day to find some filler greenery. Hobby Lobby happened to have 50% off their floral that week, so that worked out wonderfully. I chose greenery close in color to the greenery I had chosen at Kirklands. I also chose some stick-like stems that had small white flowers. When I got home, I put the greenery together in the baskets. I decided what height would look best and cut the floral stems with floral cutters (bought at Hobby Lobby). I arranged the stems by putting two of the same stem on each side of the basket and working from back to front. I also stuck in some pieces of greenery in the middle. I put the 3 stems of the white flowers at the front of the basket, one on each side and one stem in the middle.
And voila! What do you think of my flower front door baskets? I think they have a springy vibe to them, but could easily be changed out with new colors of stems for fall and winter.
